Set in 1800's Japan in the world of samurai a rigid caste system and feudal lords Blossom of the Samurai is the third and final book in the Sword and Silk Trilogy I would suggest reading the first two books beforehand because characters and background from those books figure prominently hereWe first met Toho when he was taken in by Sho and Hirata after the murder of his parents Kind and nurturing Aoki a kabuki actor and former kagema prostitute was instrumental in Toho's recovery and is Toho's dearest friend Toho now almost an adult has a series of disturbing dreams about Aoki and returns from Edo to make sure his dear friend is safe When Aoki is brutalized by a lover Toho alone holds the key to helping his friend recover There is a lovely cadence to Guillone's writing and a subtleness of emotion that I really enjoy but the plot had such a narrow focus Aoki and Toho that the pace felt very slow There is a brief subplot about Sho avenging Aoki but it is not enough of a driving force to sustain the story throughout its 112 pages There is little chemistry or sizzle between the two and one brief love scene but there is deep love between Aoki and Toho You helped me heal You have helped to make me smile again to want to live because you are in my life and I don’t want to miss a moment we could have together You are the best friend I ever had and could ever hope for There is no greater love than a lover who is your true friend The mate of my soul I would recommend Blossom of the Samurai giving it 325 stars because it neatly ends the trilogy and we get another glimpse of Genji and Daisuke as well as Sho and Hirata However personally Flying Fish is my favorite book of the triology I received an ARC from Dreamspinner Press in exchange for an honest reviewReview also posted at Gay Book Reviews check it out

This third story in the ‘Sword and Silk’ series by Sedonia Guillone set in eighteenth century Japan brings together some of the threads from the first two volumes and adds yet another emotional adventure with lots of romance and a love that initially seems impossible Daisuke a ronin samurai and his lover Genji from book one are back but it is Genji’s actor friend Aoki whose turn it is to find love Hirata and Sho also feature and it is their adopted son Toho who grows up and discovers he is in love with Aoki Of course with Toho having moved away for his samurai training and Aoki refusing to admit his feelings for a man he has known since he was a boy of ten their relationship is not an easy onePlease find my full review of the second edition on Rainbow Book Reviews

Blossom of the Samurai Sword and Silk #3003 and he makes the journey back from Edo to Kai no longer wanting to be away from Aoki’s side Once there Toho meets the very real source of his nightmares and vows to honor and protect Aoki When his beloved Aoki is brutally assaulted will Aoki survive long enough to understand that of the Samurai PDF #8608 the love Toho has for him. 35 stars‘Blossom of the Samurai’ is the third and last instalment of the ‘Sword and Silk trilogy’ This is the story of Aoki Genji’s friend and a kabuki actor and Toho the kid from ‘Blind Love’ whom Sho and Hirata adopted Toho and Aoki got separated when little Toho leaves with his fathers to Edo After seven years Toho restless from a bad dream about Aoki makes the journey back to his ‘big sister’ Toho is a grown man now and his feelings for Aoki as he meets the man again transforms from ‘loving like a friend’ to something much But Aoki is already seeing a samurai and Toho may not be able to realize his love for Aoki like he had hoped Read to find out how the couple jump an enormous hurdle together and fall in loveThe love here was very sensual and beautiful It goes through several stages and finally comes to fruition in a very satisfying HEA I liked seeing Genji Sho and Hirata again in this story Sho plays an important role here as he avenges Hirata as well as Aoki I found the pace of the story a little slow but otherwise everything was well done I liked Aoki and Toho’s character very much Aoki’s hesitation to love Toho like a man was justified After the trauma he goes through the care with which Toho tends to Aoki was so sigh worthy There is only one intimate scene here which was the culmination of the story and a start of a romanceMy one hang up about the plot I did not understand the motives or the actions of the villain He confesses that his actions were wrong but he still keeps up with it even after he has realized it and is looking for someone to give him an end worthy of a samurai Totally loco let me tell you It was contradictory and basically did not make any sense Overall it was a nice conclusion to the trilogy I would look forward to from this authorThis review has been cross posted at GayBookReviews
